  2. 1 cup dhuli moong dal
  3. 1 inch ginger (grated)
  4. 7-8 garlic cloves (chopped)

  8. For besan batter-
  9. 2 tablespoons besan
  10. 2 cup sour curd or you can use chanch (500 ml) also

  13. 1/2 tsp heeng
  14. 1 tsp shahi jeera
  15. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  16. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  17. 2 tsp coriander powder
  18. 1/2 tsp garam masala
  19. 3-4 tablespoons desi ghee
  20. For Tadka-
  21. 1 tablespoon desi ghee
  22. 1/2 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
  23. 3-4 dry red chilli

Instructions to make to make Moong Dal Saag Kadi

  1. Soak moong dal for 10-15 minutes then boil dal with washed fresh palak (chopped) with salt and pinch of turmeric powder. Keep aside.
  2. Take one bowl add besan with sour curd or chaach. Add curd or chach very gradually so that there will be no lumps. Add pinch of salt.
  3. Take one heavy bottom kadadi. Add ghee then heeng and shahi jeera. After that add ginger and garlic and fry for 2 minutes. After that add chopped onions and fry until golden brown. Then, add grated tomatoes and cook it for 5-7 minutes (until the oil releases).
  4. Add the besan mixture into the moong dal palak batter. After that add seasoning. Then add all the spices into onion tomato mixture. Now mix this tadka with dal kadi mixture and cook this dal saag for 15-20 minutes in low to medium flame.
  5. Take one small tadka pan add desi ghee and then add dry red chilli and chilli powder. Garnish this tadka over dal saag and serve with hot roti or boiled rice.
